Befriending services in Bradford
Make a difference and meet somebody new in your community through our befriending service.
Why Befriending?
Isolation and loneliness is an ongoing problem in the Bradford area, Befriending helps people experiencing this and aims to have long lasting benefits for the befriender and the befriendee.Â
Listening, lending an ear, going for a walk can do more than just improve loneliness, it can have positive effects on physical health as well.
Who can be a befriender?
Active, friendly people who are good listeners, aged over 18 and can spare an hour a week in their local area.
They contact Equality together, meet a Befriending Co-ordinator and complete an application form.
- Volunteers are checked, provide references and attend training.
- Befrienders are introduced to a person to meet.
- All members receive on-going support, from the Co-ordinator, plus invitations to events and training opportunities.
